Mental health's 60-80% fail rate vs surgery Video transcript: 20 or 30 years we've been treating these disorders roughly 60 to 80 percent of people who are ever diagnosed with one of those three disorders or four disorders never get a chief remission which means they have some degree of symptoms that are impairing their lives for their entire lives after receiving the diagnosis which is not ideal right we would never accept 60 to 80% fail rate in surgery. We were really finding new techniques and people would not be okay with it. And so in mental health, we can't see the wound. And so we're willing to accept these absurd fail rates and focus on what we call treatment for life, and that has not worked well. It's dramatically increased our rates of chronic mental illness, which is one of the single most expensive illnesses or types of illness to treat in our entire society.
